A little girl has been reunited with her lost toy after it was taken in by a good Samaritan who posted the “adventures” on Facebook.

Mum of one Rachel Holloway (28) found the stuffed animal, known as Monkey, on Thursday.

She took him in, bathed him and even fed him chocolate, while documenting his luxurious life.

She found the toy near a playground in Canterbury, Kent and posted her adventures on Facebook in a bid to find its owner.

The sociology student uploaded cute pictures of the animal being fed Quality Street chocolates and wiped off with a soft towel.

During his short stay, Monkey also watched cartoons with Mrs Elephant, was fed cakes and climbed trees.

The creature was eventually reunited with its original owner Amalia who had released him in the playground.

Rachel wrote in a Facebook group: “He was a bit muddy and very wet from the rain but don’t worry, the monkey has had a nice warm bath and a cup of hot chocolate.

“I hope we can find his owner here so he can go home, but for now he’s eating some chocolate and watching cartoons with Mrs. Elephant.”

“Monkey had a sleepover and some crunchy biscuits for breakfast, he’s been playing with Mrs Elephant and swinging in the trees before 9am.”

The post went viral and received more than 3,000 likes and 2,000 shares.

Rachel says she has been surprised by the reaction her cheerful updates have received.

She said: ‘Monkey has been a great guest so far. He has been hanging out with Mrs Elephant, watching cartoons and eating snacks.

“It’s been really nice to see people on Facebook coming together to try and get the monkey home.

“I think everyone enjoys the joy of a child and Ape has definitely brought everyone together in a way I didn’t expect.

“Canterbury is a small place so I thought after about 10 comments his owner would be found, it was a shock when it took off. But I’m glad it has put a smile on so many faces.’

Finally she brought the news that the creature’s owner had been found.

She said: “Okay guys, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for – Monkey’s owner, Amalia, has been found.

“Monkey has packed a bag of goodies for the journey, he has said goodbye to Mrs Elephant and is now on his way home to his favorite human.

“Thanks to everyone who took the time to share and engage with the post, without your help this busy little monkey might not have made it home.”
