‘Allez les Bleus!’: Karim Benzema sends message of support to his France team-mates ahead of World Cup final against Argentina … despite rejecting Emmanuel Macron’s offer to take his private jet to be in Qatar.
Karim Benzema has wished his French teammates the best of luck in their World Cup final clash with Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Sunday in a short post on social media.
Benzema is the subject of much controversy heading into the final after the French Ballon d’Or-winning striker recovered from injury before the tournament to be available for the final but has remained in Madrid.
The 34-year-old’s relationship with France manager Didier Deschamps is reportedly so badly fractured that Benzema even refused an offer from President Emmanuel Macron to take his personal private jet to the Middle East.

His latest post featuring a photo of superstars from both nations is captioned with a tweet translated to read: “It’s time… everyone. Vamonos. Come on Les Bleus.
Benzema is reportedly furious with Deschamps after being sent home to recover from his thigh injury which the striker believed was a minor problem that could have been dealt with in camp.
The star forward reportedly only needed three days of treatment at Real Madrid’s training facility before going on holiday and is now fit to play.
Benzema could have been recalled for the final after Deschamps failed to call up a replacement squad member, but the Real Madrid striker admitted in an earlier post on social media that he is ‘not interested’ in being involved.

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has deputized upfront in Benzema’s absence and has repaid the trust shown in him by scoring four goals in Qatar to become the country’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Giroud will start against Argentina in the final after overcoming a viral illness that swept through the French squad in the days before Sunday’s epic meeting between two global soccer powers.
Les Blues boss Deschamps was visibly frustrated when asked about his relationship with the talisman at the pre-match press conference ahead of the final.
In response to the reporters present, he said: ‘I don’t really want to answer that question,’ and smiled as he quickly said: ‘Next question.’
Asked further about Benzema playing or watching in Qatar, the French boss bit back and replied: ‘Are you spreading the word among foreign journalists? If I don’t answer, you’ll say I’m scared.
– I have players who have been injured before. Karim is one of them. The latest to be injured is Lucas Hernandez.

Since then I have 24 players to manage and you know them. Posing the question to these players, if I may say so, is at the very least clumsy, if not a little more so.
“The group is there. I do not handle the invitations of players, former players or injured players. I don’t know who will be there.
