CP(alace) Company, anyone? That’s right, London’s leading streetwear brand-turned-collaborative juggernaut Palace has teamed up with Italian outerwear pioneer CP Company for an extensive capsule collection, and it’s ready to freshen up your winter look with a range of updated classics.
Founded by Massimo Osti in 1971 and run today by Lorenzo Osti, CP Company President, the label has made a name for itself with hybrid styles that simultaneously explore the worlds of nature, streetwear and high-fashion. Vintage military undertones combine with utilitarian references and sportswear-indebted fabric research to create outerwear that lasts a lifetime, both physically and metaphorically, as it’s always in style.
Now the brand’s philosophy has been put through its paces thanks to Palace’s playful vision, presenting a collaboration that perfectly encapsulates both brands’ identities. Pieces from the Italian publisher’s archive meet jumpers and sweatpants synonymous with Palace, while research and use of fabric manipulation and treatments are found in abundance.
Technical garment colored fabrics such as Nylon B, Flatt Nylon and Microreps Diamond Peach want a modern touch, while traditional lambswool has been used as a sweater for the winter season. Similarly, an archive coat from Montgomery inspires Palace’s long duffel coat, a piece treated to a tri-ferry-bearing vintage striped pattern and a fabric overlay that allows the outerwear to lean into a performance realm.
Of course, it couldn’t be a CP Company collaboration without donning the iconic Ba-Tic layered canvas jacket with goggle hood, which arrives in faded purple and black colorways. This complements the cap and balaclava, while a full uniform comes courtesy of hiking boots, trousers to complement the Ba-Tic, hooded sweatshirts with goggles, Fairisle-esque jumpers, bomber jackets, classic logo T-shirts and a blanket.
Speaking about the collaboration, Lorenzo Osti said: “I have been in love with Palace since I discovered the brand many years ago: I love their attitude, irreverent but humble, ironic but with a lot to say. And when I met Gareth and Lev, I just got confirmation that great brands come from great people. Working with them has been easy and fun, but more than anything, a great honor.”
Palace’s Lev Tanju added: “Working with CP Company is a big deal for me personally. I have been a huge fan of what Lorenzo and his family have done for not only my wardrobe but menswear and sportswear in general, they are the innovators that changed everything. The Osti family basically invented everything I like to wear except flip flops. I’m also considering Paul Harvey, he also designed some of my favorite outerwear ever!
The collection will arrive on Palace’s website and flagship stores around the world on December 16, as well as on CP Company’s website. Naturally, this will be at the usual time at 11am GMT/EDT/CST/JST.
