From quiet moments with Kratos and Atreus, to the elegant and brutal battle shots of ice and fire flying, the range of photographers taking pictures in God of War has been a constant source of inspiration for our team.

With this latest update to God of War Ragnarök, we’re excited to finally give you full access to photo mode in this game as well!

To get you started, we’ve asked Santa Monica Studio Photo Mode aficionado and QA Lead Tim Ward for some tips (and amazing photos)!

Tips for photo mode

  1. Adjust Filter intensity, Life forceand Saturation on the desired filter for a wider selection of colors.

  1. Be sure to add a vignette when it is appropriate to give your chance more depth.
  1. Don’t be afraid to roll the camera slightly, especially when shooting match. It can make the screenshots feel more dynamic and less like the camera always takes pictures from a fixed horizontal position.

  1. If you like to take vertical pictures, you can scroll camera 90 degrees to give yourself that much needed headroom.
  1. Remember, lighting is everything! Your screenshots will really pop if the subject of your photo is properly lit. Know where the light source is when you enter photo mode to give your subject the right visibility.

  1. Take your time looking for a shot you’re happy with. Many times you may go into photo mode and think about taking a specific photo only to find something else is better at that moment. Explore with the camera and move around the scene and see what jumps out at you.

We can’t wait to see the photos you take in God of War Ragnarök! Make sure you share them with us by tagging us on Twitter @SonySantaMonica or using the hashtag #GodofWarRagnarok!
