The Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page has revealed a powerful new project.
The actor, who plays Viktor Hargreeves in Netflix’s superhero series, has unveiled Pageboy: A Memoira book which will explore his career until he comes out as transgender in 2020.
Announcing the book via his Instagram account, Page wrote a heartfelt message referencing his journey to this point: “Writing a book has come up a few times over the years but it never felt right and quite honestly, it didn’t feel possible. I could barely sit still, let alone focus long enough to complete such a task. Finally, I can be with myself, in this body.

“So I’ve written a book about my story. It’s coming out next June, and I’m so excited to share the cover with you now. At many points in my life, standing in front of a camera felt unbearable, but making this cover with renowned photographer Catherine Opie was a joyous experience that I will never forget.”
Continuing further, Page noted the growing struggle faced by trans people, writing: “Trans people face increasing attacks, from physical violence to denial of healthcare, and our humanity is regularly ‘debated’ in the media.

“Writing, reading and sharing our many experiences is an important step in standing up to those who want to silence and harm us. Books have helped me, even saved me, so I hope this can help someone feel feel less alone, feel seen, no matter who they are or what path they are on, he concluded.
The memoirs, which will be published on 6 June 2023is described as a story of a “life pushed to the brink”, with the core message to “evolve ourselves from the expectations of others” in a display of “defiance, strength and joy”.
Pageboy: A Memoir will be released on June 6, 2023. The Umbrella Academy Seasons 1-3 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 4 is confirmed.
