When do schools open during the Christmas holidays?
Dates for England’s Christmas school holidays
Most schools in England will break up for the holidays on Friday 16 December.
They will then return in the first full week of January, most likely Tuesday the 3rd, as Monday the 2nd is New Year’s Day.

School holiday dates in Scotland
Scottish schools close for Christmas a little later than England’s do, ending Christmas at 14.30 at Thursday 22 December.
They will return on Wednesday 4th January as Tuesday is a special Scottish public holiday.
Dates vary from municipality to municipality, so you should check the Scottish Government website in advance.
Christmas school holiday dates in Wales
Half-time dates in Wales tend to mirror England. So most schools will break up on Friday the 16th. December.
The majority of pupils will then return to school on Tuesday 3 January.

Christmas holiday dates in Northern Ireland
All schools in Northern Ireland close for Christmas on Friday 23rd. December.
The first day of term then starts early in the new year on Tuesday 3 January.
